Pros and Cons of Using Smart Cars

With the latest innovations from various people on the globe, it is undoubtedly an era of us humans to use modern technologies. And nowadays, these innovations are affecting various industries, especially the transportation industry, as more and more people demand convenience for their daily tasks and habits. Let us take cars as an example; people are starting to look for modern cars that can perform tasks with the absence of conventional gases.

It is said to be more preferable in comparison with the old or traditional cars as it offers a lot of features and performs tasks that the other ones cannot. Furthermore, what really matters about cars are the weight; in which the modern ones have smaller units. These modern cars are known as smart cars and you can read more about them on carcody.com.

Before we proceed to enumerating the pros and cons of smart cars, let us first discuss what they are and how they differ from the traditional cars.

What are Smart Cars?

When you hear the term ‘smart car’, the definition you will first have is it is a car that is capable of driving itself or a new car technology that comes up with the latest modern technology that offers a wide range of advanced features. Well, that is exactly what a smart car is. They are vehicles that function the same way as smart phones, except they can be driven around the town, and do not use any fuel to run.

Moreover, the simple definition of these vehicles is they are automobiles that are more efficient. There are various factors that make these cars more efficient, and some of them are the smaller size of the vehicle, lower noise production, lower or zero emission of pollutants, and the car weight.

Smart Cars vs Traditional Cars

Let us compare and contrast the conventional cars to the latest one. Traditional cars are said to be those who use fuel for the engine to start, in which carbon emissions are highly evident. The size of the engine is big, and the weight of it is heavier compared to the contemporary ones. On the other hand, smart cars do have a lighter engine and in some cases it even doesn’t have one.

Furthermore, they also vary in terms of consumption of energy as smart cars use electricity and old ones use gas or diesel as fuel for the engine to run. The latest technology is more expensive compared to the old automobiles; however, it is worth it to use if you want to save money in buying fuel for your car.

Pros and Cons of It

These cars may have a bad reputation lately, but it doesn’t stop gaining popularity as it is more conventional for people nowadays. These compact cars are becoming a new trend around the globe as a great alternative to the old and large vehicles. Furthermore, in this part of the article, we will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of owning one of the newest technologies you can find in the transportation industry.

  • PROS

Smaller Size and Lightweightness. One of the big advantages of owning one of these cars is the size of it. Drivers often have trouble about how big their car is since in some cases it cannot fit in the parking lot they have. Larger size of the car means the heavier the weight it has. When a car is heavy, the driver is having difficulty in driving it; hence, it is prone to accidents. However, these cars are small in size and can maneuver through small spaces in the crowded streets of the city. Additionally, you will have no problems in parking this vehicle as it requires only a small space for it to be parked.

Lesser Noise Production. Noise pollution is one of the most hated pollution that exists in every city. It is because the cars we normally use produce a lot of noise due to the combustion and utilization of the engine. But, these new cars have smaller engines that do not require combustion to produce a lot of sound when turned on. Thus, when more of these cars are around, we can possibly get rid of Noise Pollution.

Contributes to Cancelling Pollution. One of the main problems why normal cars need to be upgraded is because it produces a lot of pollutants that are a cause of pollution in the world. Whereas these smart automobiles do not combust fuel for it to function, it does not produce any pollutants that can harm the surroundings. It is labeled as an eco-friendly vehicle as it uses electricity for it to work.

  • CONS

Small Space/Size. If having a smaller car would benefit you, it is also a disadvantage to some. Smaller size means less capacity. Families cannot go on a road trip since there is a limited number of passengers that can ride this vehicle. However, in some instances there are models of smart cars that can accommodate more passengers but the standard size of the car can only include 2 passengers.

Less Safer. Yes, having a vehicle like this would be less safer for you to drive. Since the size is smaller, it is more prone to accidents as the risk of injury for the driver and the passenger is greater than that of a conventional vehicle. However, it depends on how you drive it and how far you will drive the car, so it is not a great threat if you are a careful driver.

Non-aesthetic. Well, this is a minor disadvantage but we should still consider it if you are a driver that likes unique and appealing designs. The design of these cars are not that beautiful and appealing to some as they are compact and have little choice of designs to select from. However, the design does not affect the performance and quality of the car though.

Conclusion

These cars are surely one of the best choices you can find in the market. It offers a lot of new features and functions as the modern technology and innovation are getting applied to the transportation industry nowadays. And these smart automobiles are one of the examples of what our current level of science and technology has for us. Furthermore, it is better to study both the advantages and disadvantages of having one as you will know more about it as you research.
